Influences

The influences on my art began as a child. My family and I lived in many countries each leaving lasting impressions; Kenya, Aden, Egypt, France, Scotland and Norway.  In the early 1970’s I studied dance at the Rudolf Laban Art of Movement Studio in Addlestone, Surrey. This is where my passion for movement and life drawing began. I taught expressive dance and art before teaching, with my husband, in Finland.

In Finland I had the opportunity to develop my artistic ideas and learnt to weave.  I was greatly influenced by Finnish design and Nordic culture and I admire the contemporary ceramics and textiles which emerged from Finland. The styles that reflect the myths and surrounding landscape has had a lasting impact on me.

Over the years, bringing up my children and teaching, I have always found time to develop my painting.

Painting is my passion.

I exhibit and sell my work. I paint portraits. I have regularly painted at Hertfordshire University and work with my local community on projects involving children and supporting adults in developing their talents, always in an imaginative and creative way.
